The Trump Organization announced its intention to start a cellular phone service called Trump Mobile. Talk about Trumped-up phone charges! And get this, the phone plan will cost $47.45 a month. That’s an odd dollar amount, wouldn’t you agree?
Well, not if you consider the God complex and conceit of our current president, Donald J Trump. You see, the phone is priced that way to honor him as the 45th and 47th president. And if that wasn’t enough narcissism, the new service coincides with the tenth anniversary of President Trump’s announcement of his first presidential run, according to the organization.
Oh, Yeah, That Organization!
That would be the Trump Org, owned by DJT, but managed by his two older sons, the ones he likes to keep hidden in embarrassment, and Allen Weisselberg. If that name sounds familiar to you, it might be because you remember him being convicted of tax evasion in connection with his former role as chief financial officer of Trump Org.., but that’s a whole other topic.
Trump Org. also has plans to offer a new $499 phone, and claims it will be built in the U.S.! Really? According to CNN, experts have voiced their skepticism and said it looks a lot like a phone from China. We the people, call bullshit!
Eric Trump says the new phone and service will align with his father’s policy to boost American manufacturing and employment. Well shit, then run!
Another Serving of Lies
Todd Weaver, CEO of Purism, one of the only known companies to manufacture a cell phone in the U.S., had this to say “Unless the Trump family secretly built out a secure, onshore or nearshore (fabrication) operation over years of work without anyone noticing, it’s simply not possible to deliver what they’re promising,” CNN has since reached out to the Trump Organization for comment.
This atrocity they are trying to foist on us is no better than your average smartphone. An image of the phone depicts a gold-colored device, with the cult motto, “Make America Great Again,” emblazoned on it. So the only difference is in its gaudiness.
He’s pressured companies like Apple and Samsung to manufacture their phones in the US. He said companies that make their phones elsewhere will face a tariff of at least 25%.
The Trump family says on Trump Mobile’s website that the phone will be “Made in the USA”. But later in a clip from an interview, Eric Trump said, “Eventually all the phones can be built in the USA.”
So…if this phone is made with foreign parts, does the Trump Org. get a break on the tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration? How exactly is that ethical, Taco and Taco Jr?
Don’t Buy into the Trumped-Up Phone Charges
This is one marketing ploy we would do better to avoid. It is a gross hypocrisy, and I, for one, will not help put money in the Trump Organization’s money laundering business in any way.
